All at once I am in the middle of a vast sea
This is not a sea of water that teams with life
But this is a sea of sand with no life in sight
The sand is smooth, clean and undisturbed
I must be the first person in this desolate wasteland
I do not know how I got here or from where I came
There is no beginning and there is no end in sight
The view all around me is daunting at best
It is calming to the point of depressing
And slowly shifting to the point of violent
I am so lost and confused upon this sea
From which direction I came, I do not know
And I have no idea of which way to go
So I just stand here in my frustrated ignorance
This barren and lonely place has become my prison
I feel as if all purpose and hope in my life is gone
There is no reason to continue this unending journey
There is nothing else to do but end this sad trek
So I lie down, and soon have no desire to rise again
Apathy overtakes me and I succumb to death’s pull
As I take my final breath, the sea washes over me
Soon there is no trace of a single life that once was
All that remains, is fresh sand for the next life at sea
