Recomendation

Posted in Uncategorized on 12/31/2008 by zack hale

I just started reading a book called “Searching for God Knows What.” I am a slow reader so I am only on page 75 but so far this book is amazing.  I would highly recomend reading it.  To me, author is talking about the bridal relationship with God without ever using those words and without being flowery and emotional.  He is convey the same msg but in a way I undedrstand… without being emotional and being synical and humorous.  It is written so a guy can understand how to be the bride of Christ; and the best part he is real and not religous and he has no formula.  So anyway, if you get a chance, I would strongly suggest reading it.

Nightmare

I pursued your dream

I pursued your dream so lovely and fair

And out of excitement chased your hopes

You seemed so happy and at such peace

When you told me of the days to come

So I chased your hopes, I pursued your dreams

Exhausted I was and weary of soul

But still I ran… with less fervor but on I ran

They lost their luster but still they were there for me to see

After all they were your dreams and how could you be wrong

So with new drive I chased your dreams

With harder work I pursued your hopes

I was soon overtaken by weariness and frustration

While trying to catch your hopes and dreams

But these dreams made you happy, these hopes gave you peace

How could you be so wrong?

But wrong you were not … for it was I

Pursing your longings instead of my own

A Farmers Fence

Posted in Uncategorized on 12/24/2008 by zack hale

The rocks are moved out and the land is plowed

The rows are dug and the seeds are planted

The sun shines down and the rain, it waters

The plants grow and the garden comes alive

The wild animals come and they eat the food

I build a fence for I am the farmer

The corrals are built and the barn is raised

The field is fertilized and the grass grows

The livestock is bought and they are tagged

They wonder the meadows and eat the grass

They see the open range and escape to freedom

I build a fence for I am the farmer

The woods are sold and strangers buy it

The trees are cut down and land is cleared

The house is built and neighbors move in

The possessions expand and more land is needed

The arguing begins and property lines are questioned

I build a fence for I am the farmer

The relationships develop and friendships are made

The social outings are enjoyed and altruism begins

The assistance is abused and bounds are overstepped

The expectations are high and freedom is relinquished

The feuding begins and the hurt takes over

I build a fence for I am the farmer

Worship

The idea that worship always changes circumstances is a mistake.  It may not always change circumstances but it will change the person.  Worship decentralizes self.  The worship and praise of God demands a shift of center from self to God.  One cannot praise without relinquishing occupation with self.     Paul E. Billheimer

“As humans we have every reason to get mad or offended and give up but as Christians we have no excuse.”

Grey

Posted in Uncategorized on 12/20/2008 by zack hale

I stand exposed in the light but the brightness takes its toll

The brilliant colors of its glow began to lose its luster

I work…I play… I laugh all day

And still this light of color is nothing but boring and dull

There is the haze of shades of grey that divide the dark from light

So I wonder to the edge of this life I know

At the edge is a line the keeps me safe from the world unknown.

But is it safety or barbaric restraint that keeps my life at bay

The dull of grey seems more alive than the color of this light

So I push upon this dividing line to feel the absence of the light

It’s crisp… It’s cool… There are no rules

And so this grey and cool of day makes me want even more

I push the limits even more and surround myself in the grey

I work… I play… I laugh all day

Until the grey that I am in is more dark than the light before

Without fanfare or commotion I cross the line that divides

So I decide I must explore this darkness that is on the other side

It is so new and so fun that I no longer think of the days of sun

The darkness holds a strange sense of freedom that I cannot get enough

And so I quickly pursue the joy of night as much as I possibly can

I work… I play… I laugh all day

But soon the darkness is not so new and there is no hope or fun

The darkness is now even more troubling than the light of day

Soon the darkness presses in and my mind cannot take its toll

I work… I pray… I survive each day

So I seek to leave the dark and return to the light of day

But crossing the line that divides the two is harder this way across

I cannot stand the solitude of the night so I fight my way on through

For I must leave this dark of night and pass to the light of day

The journey across may be short but the path is very daunting

I alone made the move to cross the line to the dark

So I will not give up the quest and will fight my way across

I plead… I pray… I intercede

Until I reach the light of day

And on that day so very soon I once again will say

I work… I play… I laugh all day

Compromise

I read a statement by the director of the salvation from the early 1900’s.  He was talking about the younger generations one hundred years from then, which is now.  This statement seems not to only be true of the younger generation today but all age groups today.

“There are 6 things the will dominate the younger generation a hundred years from now and effect their culture:

1. Religion without the Holy Spririt

2. Forgiveness without repentence

3. Conversion without new birth

4. Christianity without Christ

5. Politics without God

6. Heaven without hell”

How insightful and how true.  What have we become?

Bleeding Soul

You grew so fast that your bones ached

You fought so rough that you turned black and blue

You ran so far that your feet became blistered

You worked so hard that you were soaked with sweat

You played so much that your muscles were sore

You laughed so loud that your sides hurt

You helped so often that your body collapsed

But have you ever really…

loved so selflessly that your soul bled
